The Program Have you ever wondered how to be an entrepreneur? Do you think you have what it takes? The ACT Entrepreneurship Program will answer these questions. This rigorous 14-day program will take you through the process of business creation from conception to implementation. The backbone of ACT’s program is centered around Design Thinking, a developmental approach pioneered by the Stanford Design School and IDEO, a globally-renowned design and innovation consulting firm. The design thinking method has successfully been applied by companies such as Google, eBay, Ikea, General Electric, and the BiIl and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Modules include, amongst others, introduction to and application of design thinking, communication, basic financial modeling, marketing, and strategy. At the end of the program, your team will pitch your idea to local business professionals, and if they are sufficiently impressed you will be taken forward into the rest of the entrepreneurship development process.
Admission is open to all Zimbabwean nationals between the ages of 19 and 35 years of age who apply and make it through the selection process.
If you are successful in your application to join the program, and have paid the USD 5.00 program fee, you will be invited to join the ACT 2017 cohort. Classes will run in Harare for 2 weeks in mid 2017, including week-ends! On your first day of the training you will be provided with your schedule, study materials, and a note book. During the first week we will work on defining your business idea through coursework and fieldwork. The second week will give you all the tools you need to refine your business plan, and create a rigorous pitch, which you will then present to local investors and business professionals on the last day of the training program.
If your business idea is selected at the end of the two week program, we will assign your team a mentor and provide you with seed capital so that your can launch your business idea. After a period of 6 months, if your mentor believes that you, as a team, have what it takes to become real entrepreneurs, ACT will facilitate access to venture capital to scale and grow your business.
Be warned: the ACT program is intense, and will require you to work long hours. We reserve the right to expel any person that we believe is not making a sufficient effort.
